Midnight Matinees is an ongoing anthology series featuring short animated films centered around urban legends and chilling stories that touch on the supernatural. Inspired by pulp storytelling, Midnight Matinees is a personal project that allows me to explore and play with AI. I’ve developed a workflow that is a true collaboration between the human hand and AI.
The designs are inspired by the highly stylized and expressive covers of classic pulp novels. I built a prompt for midjourney to create a consistent, editable design system that I was able to animate using runway or kling. All voice overs were also created using AI programs as well as each sound track.
