At the intersection of possibilites.
Meta Connect 2022 was an extraordinary event that brought together experts, innovators, and enthusiasts from various fields to delve into the future of the metaverse, virtual reality, and augmented reality. Highlights of this event were developer sessions and Meta’s keynote where Mark Zuckerberg walked audiences through the myriad of developments and product releases for Meta.
As the visual language creative director, I once again partnered with BUCK to create a visual identity that captured the events theme, narrative and vision. We built a design system that supported hundreds of assets, leveraging a rich graphic metaphor to drive curiosity and interest.
We wanted to explore the intersection between the real and unreal, the present and the future, the physical and the metaverse.
From that foundational concept, we began exploring different ways to express this journey of potential. Ultimately, we landed on a design motif centered around the mixture of real world materials and stylistic, expressive imagination layers comprised of humanistic paint strokes, lively colors and organic patterns.
From there, the amazingly talented crew at BUCK, collaborated closely with us to build out a system of stunning abstract, emotionally resonant sculptural motifs that we layered into a newly built Meta brand design system.
We built an entire motion graphics package around this design language, one that was versatile and scalable enough to be used as the connective thread for the entirety of Connect. From the keynote featuring Mark Zuckerberg to individual developer workshop sessions.
